Large Hanukkah menorah, or hanukkiah. It is a nine-branched candelabrum used during the eight-days of Hanukkah to commemorate the miracle of the oil that burned for eight days in the Temple of Jerusalem.
The menorah has eight main branches for candles or oil lamps, with a ninth, taller branch called the shamash (helper). The shamash candle is used to light the other eight lights.
