Thin Silver Color Metal Seder Plate 11 1/2”. Unmarked.

It is used as the centerpiece for the traditional Passover Seder meal, holding six symbolic foods that help retell the story of the Israelites' exodus from Egypt.

The six niches on the plate, labeled in Hebrew, are for specific items, and a bowl of salt water is typically placed nearby on the table:

Zeroa (Shankbone): A roasted lamb shank bone (or chicken neck) that symbolizes the Passover sacrifice offered at the Temple in Jerusalem. It is the only meat item on the plate.

Beitzah (Egg): A hard-boiled and sometimes roasted egg, symbolizing the festival offering (Chagigah) in the Temple and the circle of life.

Maror (Bitter Herbs): Typically fresh horseradish, symbolizing the bitterness and harshness of slavery in Egypt.

Charoset (Sweet Paste): A sweet mixture of ground fruits (like apples and pears) and nuts, often with red wine, that represents the mortar the Jewish slaves used to build structures in Egypt.

Karpas (Vegetable): A green vegetable, such as parsley or a boiled potato, which is dipped into salt water to symbolize both spring and the tears shed by the slaves.

Chazeret (Bitter Herbs): Often romaine lettuce, this is a second form of bitter herb used in the Hillel sandwich with matzah and maror.
